The following review written by one of the Software Informer contributors applies to version 5.0

WordWeb is a very useful application as a complete dictionary and thesaurus to look for words in several varieties of english language such as British english, American english, International english, Australian english, etc. and is also very useful for correcting misspellings.

The application takes care of looking for the desired word all over the web resources: Wikipedia, Wiktionary, WordWeb Online, acquired directly using the Internet Explorer engine, and shows results for part of compound nouns, word definition, related words, synonimous, etc.

User can set bookmarks for customizing searches and set filters such as for slang language (so those words will not be displayed), flag or hide ofensive words set that only root words will be shown, etc.

The easy to use interface allows quick access to all the application features. User can add words to the thesaurus dictionary and copy word meanings to the clipboard for later use, as well as add words to custom glossaries.

Word search can be implemented from any Windows program and can be set for matching a pattern or for finfing out anagrams.
  • Very easy to use and useful for word searching all over the web.
  • None.

IT is best tool I have ever come across. A must have. It works with all programs on MS windows. You just have to press control and right click on any word and lo! there you get complete dictionary - thesaurus + much more like the nearest word, closely matching word, ect. Your vocabulary and writting skills can multiply several times with this tool. My letters and IOM's in my office have become very effective and to the point with this tool. I want to thank the developers and the distributors of this software. Thank you

WordWeb is a handy utility that gives you the definition, synonyms, and antonyms of any given word without requiring you to go online, though it can connect to the Internet for expanded functionality should you want it.
The interface feels like an expanded version of any major word processing app's dictionary function, giving users an instant familiarity--even if they've never used WordWeb. After you type a term into the Lookup dialog box, the word's definition will appear in the interface's top pane, along with tabs that link to various wiki functions.
The bottom pane offers tabs for such items as synonyms, antonyms, and related words. The app's most notable feature is its hot key support; you simply use a hot key combo when the cursor is pointed over any word, and WordWeb will pop up onscreen with all pertinent information.
There are tools for changing the database to one of several English variations, altering the text size, and disabling WordWeb from recognizing offensive terms. The depth and functionality of WordWeb would be worth paying for, but thankfully you don't have to redefine your budget to get it--it's free...
